In 2005, Chairman Lien Chan and Chairman James Soong, in order to promote cross-strait peace and bring about a revival of Chinese culture, overcame numerous obstacles and visited mainland China. Since then, relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have become ever closer. I myself have shuttled back and forth, doing what I can individually to promote cross-strait cultural, academic, medical, legal, educational, economic, and trade exchanges. In 2008, I established the Taipei Association for Cross-Straits Services.

In 2009, I accompanied KMT Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung and people from all walks of life on Taiwan to Changsha, Hunan, to attend the Fifth Cross-Strait Trade and Cultural Form. The purpose of the forum is to increase cross-strait cultural exchanges and cooperation and to promote our common cultural heritage. Participants from both sides offered a ten point proposal. These ten points include: Encouraging government agencies on both sides to increase cultural exchanges, to take turns organizing a cultural festivals, arts festivals and other large-scale cultural exchanges, to help Taiwan-based literary and arts groups participate in the Shanghai World Expo, to support cross-strait cultural and arts institutions, arts groups, and artists with art instruction, art co-creation, to conduct exchanges, tours, and commercial demonstrations, to encourage library, art museum, museum, and cultural artifact conservation agencies and research institutions to conduct cultural exchanges, joint research, and hold joint exhibitions.

Following a long period of gestation, preparation, and consultation, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the China Art Museum, the Conceptual Art Center and the Taipei Association for Cross-Straits Services have organized a month long “China Oil Painting Masters Exhibition” to be held at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum in the spring of 2010. The Art Museum of China has invited artists to Taiwan to participate. Through their works of art, they will have the opportunity to speak to their countrymen on Taiwan.

What masters of oil painting seek is not merely to capture the moment, but the eternal. What the public on both sides seek, is not merely fleeting fame and fortune, but enduring peace and happiness. Masters of oil painting capture the moment on canvas. They transform their impressions into cultural masterpieces. What we fight for all our lives, and leave to posterity, must not be a work of art that has been torn in two.

On behalf of the Taipei Association for Cross-Strait Services, I invite masters from the Chinese mainland to exhibit their works on Taiwan. I believe that Taiwan compatriots will welcome these masters from the Chinese mainland with open arms, and appreciate their work with open minds. I would like to thank the China Art Museum, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and the Conceptual Arts Center, and wish the “China Oil Painting Masters Exhibition” every success.

跨越海峽　畫出永恆的境界

2005年，連戰、宋楚瑜二位主席為兩岸和平發展、為復興中華文化，摒除萬難，成功訪問中國大陸。此後，兩岸同胞的交流往來日漸密切。個人也經常奔波往來於兩岸間，為促進兩岸的文化、學術、醫療、法律、教育、經貿等交流活動，盡一己之力，並於2008年，成立台北市兩岸人民交流服務協會。

2009年，個人與吳伯雄主席等台灣各界人士，共同出席了在湖南長沙舉行的第五屆兩岸經貿文化論壇。針對「加強兩岸文化交流合作，共同傳承和弘揚中華文化」一節，兩岸的與會人士提出十點共同建議，其中包括：鼓勵兩岸各地各有關機構加強文化交流，輪流舉辦或相互參加各種主題的文化節、藝術節等大型文化交流活動，協助台灣文藝團體參加上海世博會展演；支持兩岸文化藝術機構、團體、院校和藝術家開展藝術教學、聯合創作、互訪巡演及合作演出、商業演出等交流活動；鼓勵兩岸圖書館、美術館、博物館、文物保護機構和文化研究機構開展多種形式交流和合作研究、聯合辦展等活動。

於是，經過長時間的醞釀籌備及協商聯繫，由台北市立美術館暨中國美術館共同主辦，由觀想藝術中心與台北市兩岸人民交流服務協會共同協辦的「此景此情：大陸油畫名家寫生展」，終於將於2010年的春暖花開時節，在台北市立美術館舉行，為期一個月。中國美術館邀請到諸多大陸名家來台參展，透過他們的優秀作品，台灣同胞得以與名家開展深入的心靈交流。

油畫名家所追求的藝術境界，不僅是寫意瞬間，也期待畫出永恆。兩岸人民所共同追求的人生境界，不僅是小我一時的名利權位，也是大我永久的和平與幸福。油畫名家們寫生，將剎那的情景留駐畫面，將深刻的印象凝成傳世作品。我們奮鬥一生，留給後代子孫的，畢竟不能是幅撕成兩半的殘廢畫作。

在此，謹代表台北市兩岸人民交流服務協會，誠摯歡迎中國大陸的藝術名家來台參展與寫生，也相信台灣同胞將張開雙臂歡迎來自中國大陸的藝術名家，並開放心胸欣賞他們的精彩作品。感謝中國美術館與台北市美術館，也感謝觀想藝術中心，祝福「此景此情：大陸油畫名家寫生展」順利、成功！
